"Mountain Goats, " Art Deco Tapestry Masterpiece

About the Item

Brilliantly occupying the fabled place where Art Deco stylization and Cubist fragmentation meet, this tapestry brilliantly captures a trio of mountain goats -- in gorgeous shades of camel, burnt sienna and dusty marble -- in a fractured, mountainous world of greens, deep purples and ivories. Designed and executed by a master -- probably French -- the tapestry was woven in several pieces and then sewn together, perhaps to emphasize the jagged peaks of the mountains that provide the setting for this scene.
