English Victorian 19th Century Terracotta Horse Head with Greek Key Frieze

About the Item

An English Victorian period terracotta horse head sculpture from the 19th century on oval backplate with Greek Key motifs. Created in England during the reign of Queen Victoria in the 19th century, this terracotta wall mounted sculpture depicts a horse's head coming off of an oval backplate adorned with a frieze of Greek Key motifs. The horse showcases a nice crackled finish on his coat and a great finesse in the details of his mane. His nostrils and eyes are accented with large circles, giving the horse a particular expression. With its nice brown color, charming execution and good proportions, this English Victorian period terracotta horse head mounted sculpture from the 19th century will make for a lovely addition to any décor, particularly placed in a mountain cabin or country home, perhaps hung above a fireplace.
