CARLO WEINGRILL Vintage 18k Ribbed Gooseneck Cuff Bracelet 65g

About the Item

Established in Verona in 1879, Italian jewelry designer Carlo Weingrill, was a master of 18kt gold jewelry. Each handcrafted piece features top quality craftsmanship that has been handed down today through the generations. Carlo began working as an apprentice in a goldsmith shop at the age of 11 and in 1879, at 22, he decided to open his own factory. Carlo Weingrill was the original manufacturer behind some of the most classic and recognizable designs in jewelry including Bulgari’s famous tubogas-style bracelets, necklaces and rings, various gold cuffs for Tiffany & Co. and the Trinity bangle bracelets for Cartier. He died in 1924, and his two sons, Armando and Gastone, took over, transforming the small artisan business into a high-powered industry, gaining a worldwide reputation for fine workmanship. Carlo's granddaughter, Paola Weingrill, who grew up in the jewelry factory, runs the business today and still employs the same handcrafted artisanship into each piece. An iconic Vintage gooseneck bracelet made by the esteemed designer Carlo Weingrill from the 1970s! This striking cuff-style bracelet is crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold, and has a ridged gooseneck design that carries along the entire length of the piece. Each end of the bracelet is flexible and can be pulled further open to allow for easy and comfortable wear. The end of the cuff is stamped with "750" along with "ITALY" and a hallmark including a star, the number 15, and the letters "VR", which can be traced back to the Carlos Weingrill company in Verona. Though flexible, the bracelet remains naturally rigid when worn and would fit easily on a small to average sized wrist. This gooseneck cuff design has been emblematic of work from Carlos Weingrill throughout the decades and would make the perfect addition to any jewelry collection! Measurements: The surface of the bracelet measures approximately 1" wide and is approximately 2/5" thick. The inside area (where a wrist would rest) measures slightly more than 2" wide and 1 3/4" tall. When extended, the bracelet can stretch open to about 2 3/4" wide to accommodate a larger wrist. The bracelet has a weight of 65 grams. Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is good. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold.

  • Carlo Weingrill: "love knot" circular three tone gold bracelet

“The Love Knot” The bracelet was made by Carlo Weingrill in the 1950s. A lush 18 Karat gold bracelet in three tones of gold, width ca 20 mm, length 18.5 cm, weight 68 g. With Swedish import stamps and the mark for Taennler, weingrill´s distributor for Europe and North America in the 50s. This has been confirmed in writing by Carlofilippo Mensi Weingrill. Makes everyone spinning of envy! In their own words “A distinctive style does not come naturally; it requires close observation of the culture of the age, and a keen eye for form and line. Creativity is the art of balance, a way of turning subjective impressions into an entire aesthetic.” They describe their work as "contemporary elegance without any ostentation" Four generations of Italian gold artisans have built a House that exemplifies fine craftsmanship, exquisite detail, and timeless design. Carlo Weingrill was born in Verona, Italy, in 1856. At the age of eleven, he began his apprenticeship in a goldsmith’s shop. Upon completing his training at the age of 22, he made the decision to open his own workshop in 1879 in Verona. Every piece was handmade using traditional artisan techniques and designed to be worn and enjoyed regularly, sing the highest quality materials coupled with exceptional craftsmanship. The business flourished, and Carlo brought his two sons, Armando and Gastone, into the business. They took over upon Carlo’s death in 1924, and grew the small artisan concern into a major player in the industry, gaining worldwide prestige for their exquisite workmanship. Upon Armando’s death in 1959, Gastone continued to carry on as head of the business. Armando’s daughter, Paola Weingrill, was the next in line to take on the business. From the time she was a toddler, Paola was fascinated with the goldsmiths and their work. When her Uncle Gastone passed away in 1977, it was Paola who took over as chief executive officer. Paola groomed her son, Carlofilippo Mensi Weingrill, to assume the reins of the company upon her retirement. Carlofilippo is now head of the firm, representing the fourth generation to head this illustrious House. From the beginning, the company employed goldsmiths who handcrafted their jewelry, eschewing the use of machines. Workers sat at a table molding, shining and polishing the gold to a stunning finish. In Italy, a craftsman could become a goldsmith after apprenticing for two years, At Weingrill, apprenticeships lasted seven years. Gold has always been the mainstay of the company, using diamonds and gemstones sparingly. The distinctive warm yellow tone of the Italian gold has become synonymous with the house. Weingrill’s goal has been to preserve their tradition of fine craftsmanship and produce wearable works of art using the finest materials, creating timeless pieces that endure for generations. In time the quality of Weingrill jewels would attract the attention of some of the biggest names in 20th century fine jewellery. Carlo Weingrill is credited with being the original manufacturer of some of the most recognizable gold jewelry designs. For Cartier they made the famous Trinity bangles, for Tiffany they made a variety of gold cuffs and bracelets...
