About the Item

Renowned Danish silversmith Georg Jensen was born in 1866. His training in metalsmithing and his education in the Fine Arts enabled him to develop a successful career based in beautiful jewelry and silver design. His signature Art Nouveau style grew increasingly popular and Jensen became a world renowned artist. Although Jensen died in 1935, his pieces are still being created today using the same craftsmanship as when he was alive. Several prestigious silver and goldsmiths went on to create beautiful pieces for the Georg Jensen Silversmithy after his death, including Ernst Forsmann, who contributed designs between 1953-1975. This stylish checkerboard link bracelet was designed by Ernst Forsmann for Georg Jensen in 1969! Made of sterling silver, the bracelet has a flexible "tire track" design comprised of interlocking square-shaped links. There are 5 rows of links that form the grid, resembling a checkerboard pattern when worn. There are several small hallmarks stamped on three of the square links, including "925 S DENMARK," "191," and the authentic "GEORG JENSEN" signature hallmark. The bracelet fastens with a hidden bar clasp that fits snugly and seamlessly inside the checkerboard design. Two figure 8 safety clasps provide extra security at the top and bottom edges. A simple, yet fashionable design by a legendary maker, it would make a wonderful piece for everyday wear! The bracelet measure approximately 7 1/4 " long, 7/8" wide, and 3/16" thick. The overall weight of the piece is 82.2 grams.

Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling. The clasp and safety clasps are secure and in good working condition.
