About the Item

Dress clips were one of the most popular types of jewellery during the Art Déco era. They were not only worn on coats and dresses. but also on purses and belts. The dress clip at hand is reminiscent of the popular triangular clip of the 1930s, yet interprets it in entirely different materials. Whilst purely white jewels were favoured in Art Déco, this piece shows us all the primary colours along with green and white. Rubies, blue sapphires, emeralds and diamonds are set into high-carat yellow gold, evoking a hanging garden with gleaming fruit. The design is reminiscent of some jewels made by Bulgari in the years around 1990, see for example Amanda Triossi/Daniela Mascetti: Bulgari, Milan 2007, S. 205, fig. 269. The lavish use of some of the most iconic gemstones in the world of jewellery, along with the artisanal quality of the piece, make this a truly collectible clip that combines the elegance of Art Déco with the vibrant colouring of vintage jewellery. It is accompanied by the independent expertise of a renowned German gemological institute.
