Antique Late Edwardian Diamond and Fine Emerald Platinum Pin, c. 1919

About the Item

Antique brooch, with milgrained set stones, is composed of fine vivid green Colombian emeralds and white diamonds. This pin is 2-7/8th inches long and has a variable width from 1/16th of an inch at one end, to 1/2 inch at the other end. The weight is 7.0 grams. The piece is acid tests platinum and is marked 18K. It also acid tests to be 18K, the clasp has a flip-up stabilizer. This pin is in fine condition and probably American. There are 24 European cut diamonds (one old pear cut) estimated to weigh .35 cts. with H/J (near colorless) in color and very slightly to slightly included in clarity. There are 32 calibre cut emeralds -obviously cut for this piece. It is estimated that these vivid kelly green emeralds (probably from Colombia) weigh 0.70 cts. In addition, there are 9 natural salt water oriental natural pearls carefully graduating from 1.8 mm to 2.55 mm. We have photographed this pin with another similar pin in our collection, sold separately and can also be seen here under brooches, to show how wonderfully they compliment each other. Please note our model is a medium to large size. All items sold are accompanied by a detailed Statement of Value by our gemologist, as well as all original gemological documentation, if specified in the listing. As always, we guarantee all of pieces to be exactly as represented. Each piece of jewelry arrives in a finely gift-wrapped presentation box. Over the decades of our stewardship as a small but exemplary purveyor of the jeweler's art, we have strived to offer a fine and authentic selection, in excellent condition, of collectible jewels from all highly sought time periods at competitive prices and even lower prices, if possible. In the process we have had the extraordinary good fortune of meeting remarkable people - some collectors, others just extremely interesting individuals who have taken the time and effort to examine their lives and select things that tend to make them smile, or admire, or just wonder at the exciting endlessly creative and nuanced panoply of jeweled artifacts.
