Antique Platinum and Diamond, 2.76 cts, Large and Substantial Brooch, circa 1912
About the Item
Antique platinum and diamond brooch. This well made platinum pin possesses 62 well cut and well matched diamonds amounting to approximately 2.76 cts. All of the diamonds are estimated to be near colorless (H) and VS (very slightly included). The large center diamond is estimated to weigh 1.10 cts.
This brooch displays wonderful cutout work which creates a lovely geometric pattern. The brooch measures 1-13/16th. inches in length. Yellow gold was used for the pin stem and pin catch, which was not unusual at this time. Yellow gold has more flexibility (springiness) than platinum.
This brooch also looks stunning in the hair, and could also be worn as a pendant by putting the chain through the pin stem.
