Unusual Victorian Rock Crystal Gold Snake Stickpin
About the Item
Highly unusual handmade Victorian snake stickpin in 14K gold with lovely detailing. A fully formed snake is wrapped around a pear shaped faceted rock crystal. Hidden beneath in the setting is a genuine beetle wing, which reflects its nile green, emerald-like iridescence from within.
An incredibly interesting choice of design and construction from a 19th Century jeweler to "create" a stone color which does not exist in nature. Collector quality. 19th Century USA. 3.25" x .5". Excellent condition.
