Victorian 18 Karat Gold Diamond Pearl Painted Cherubs Pin
About the Item
An adorable little reminder of the Victorian obsession with sentiment, this brooch has a hand painted scene of Cupid with a wicked little smile on his face aiming his arrow while an accompanying winged compatriot looks elsewhere. The circular painting is framed within two squares of gold, one with chunky old cut diamonds set in textured gold offset by another matte gold square set with small round pearls. The pin finding and catch have all the attributes of well-made Victorian jewelry: a thicker stem for the pin, and an elaborately curving "C" clasp. The pin measures 1 1/8" across and down, and has four old cut diamonds weighing about .60 carats. We particularly like how the colors in the painted section are brought out by the matte and textured finishes of the gold frames that surround. Whether you're the donor or recipient of love, this pin would be an ideal way to elegantly express the feeling. We see it worn around the neck fastened to a dog collar length black grosgrain or velvet ribbon.
