About the Item
A stunningly detailed Victorian micromosaic brooch mounted in 9k rose gold, late 19th century, probably Italy.
The fine micromosaic brooch depicting a view from the gardens of Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli, and featuring the dramatic falls of the Aniene and the ruins of the Temple of Vesta. The micromosaic work is superb, the overall image reminiscent of an old master oil painting, complete with the craquelure.
The micromosiac is framed with a red stone surround and mounted in 9k rose gold.
The back with a single pin as well as a tiny hoop at the top. Stamped "9ct" for 9k gold.
