Art Deco Carved Rock Quartz Crystal, Onyx and Diamond Cufflinks

About the Item

Fabulous double-sided cufflinks from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! Each cufflink is crafted in platinum topped 14kt yellow gold and has two frosted rock quartz crystal faces which are square in shape. The rock crystal plaques have a 3-dimensional pyramidal cut and adorn a sparkling old Mine Cut diamond bezel set in the center. Framing each diamond are 4 square cut onyx stones which are set in an "x" design, creating a fabulous Deco look. All of the stones are bezel set and the onyx and rock quartz are framed in a milgrained setting. The reverse side of each open backed crystal plaque reveals a yellow gold attachment. Gold connectors fasten the links together, and can be pressed on one side to open, allowing you to slide the links off if desired. The center bar is has a small touch mark along with the makers mark "CM," and "585". A stunning pair of Art Deco cufflinks, they would look wonderful worn by a man or woman! Each cufflink face measures 1/2" wide and tall and 1/4" thick. The space in between each cufflink measures 7/8" long. The overall condition of the cufflinks is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no damage to the setting and all of the onyx and diamonds are intact. There is some very minimal surface wear to the rock crystals, but nothing significant or noticeable when they're worn.

  • Art Deco Reverse Carved Rock Crystal Equestrian Motif Multi Charm Bracelet
    Located in Narberth, PA
Reverse carved crystal was a technique created by cutting pieces of rock quartz crystal into a convex form and then polishing it into a cabochon shape. An image is carved into the flat side of the crystal and then hand painted. From the front, the image appears to be almost three dimensional. Many different images were used in reverse carved crystal jewelry and artwork, but animals were some of the most common motifs. A magnificent gemstone and reverse carved crystal charm bracelet from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This incredible platinum piece features a wonderful compilation of 6 equestrian themed charms which dangle from a fine interlocking chain link bracelet. Each charm is unique and all are detailed with sparkling Single Cut diamonds throughout. The gorgeous charms include miniature versions of a horseshoe, two riding crops, a hunting horn, a medal with ribbons, and the image of a horse carriage a man and woman seen from the back window. Both riding crops and the hunting horn charms are each adorned with a delicate Essex crystal cabochon, which rests on a Mother of Pearl background and is bezel set within a round frame. The matching reverse carved images are incredibly artistic, depicting the face of a charming red fox with delicate hand-painted detail portraying expressive facial features, pointed ears, and vibrant fur. The medal charm features a similar Essex carved crystal cabochon adorned with a painted profile of a horse head featuring rich brown hair with a bridle and bit. The beautiful "ribbons" below are each decorated with calibrated sapphire stones, adding a wonderful pop of rich blue color to the design. Finally, the romantic charm of a loving couple in the carriage window features two ruby "lamps" on either side of the carriage and the man's top hat adorns rich black enameling. The fine chain bracelet is comprised of delicate rectangular shaped links that interlock together and fastens at a spring ring clasp stamped with an "IRID PLAT" purity mark. Truly a one of a kind piece, this beautiful equestrian inspired bracelet would make a fantastic addition to any collection! The bracelet measures approximately 7" in length. The charms vary in size with the largest one being one of the riding crops, which measures about 3/4" long (including the bail at the top) and about 1/2" wide. The smallest charm is the carriage and it measures approximately 5/8" long, including the bail at the top, and slightly less than 1/2" wide. The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting. All of the gemstones and crystal cabochons are intact and securely set and the enamel is free of chips or scratches. The Essex crystal cabochons display some scratches on the surface and the painted images, especially on the fox charms...
