Pair of Edwardian Emerald and Diamond Earrings
About the Item
A pair of Edwardian emerald and diamond earrings, each earring with a cushion-cut emerald surrounded by twelve old-cut diamonds attached to two knife-edged gold bars forming a V, suspended by a cluster consisted of a square-cut emerald and seven old-cut diamonds, the diamonds estimated to weigh 0.75 carats in total, mounted in silver and yellow gold, with gold wire-fittings, circa 1905, measuring approximately 3.3x0.8cm, gross weight 2.3 grams, in original case.
This pair of antique earrings is in good condition for its age. Signs of abrassion on one of the emeralds consistent with its age. Unmarked, tested as 14ct gold and silver.
These romantic Edwardian earrings were made in the early twentieth century. They feature glinting diamonds and deep green emeralds and come from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. The floral clusters on the top of the earrings consist of a central emerald surrounded by diamonds. These cluster have an elegant V shaped drop set with further emeralds, culminating in wonderfully sparkling emerald and diamond clusters. These earrings would look spectacular with an evening gown and would add both colour and scintillating twinkle to a formal ensemble.
