About the Item
This is a stunning and rare large 4.5 inch antique Victorian Belle Epoque Belt Buckle in Sterling Silver with Cherub and Angel Imagery with acanthus leaf and fruit designs throughout. The buckle is beautifully made with heavy Sterling Silver. The Cherub and Angel figures have wonderful three dimensional design. They frolic with their wings through the open work foliate acanthus motifs. The very unusual and dramatic buckle dates to the Victorian - Art Nouveau - Belle Epoque period, circa 1850-1890.
The buckle is 4 5/8 inches (12 cm) wide by 4 inches (10.5cm) tall.
The buckle has extensive hallmarks with a maker's mark of W.S.
