Antique Belle Époque Platinum "Petit Point" Rose Cut Diamond Sapphire Pendant
About the Item
An antique rosecut diamond sapphire floral pendant exquisitely made by hand with platinum to resemble a framed needle point. This pendant is an excellent example of Edwardian aesthetic, which following the trend of the machinist jewelry of the end of the Victorian era, was a turn towards more hand wrought, lighter, and brighter pieces. The use of platinum in jewelry manufacture allowed pieces to me made with more precision - and this piece shows just how fine platinum handiwork can be. The platinum is woven to mimic the weave of fabric, and the diamonds and sapphires are set where the stitches would create the pattern. The pendant is quintessentially Belle Epoque, from the floral basket subject matter to the bow at the top. A romantic, delicate pendant for the discerning collector.
