Antique Ornate Russian Old Believers Reticulated Silver Cross, 19th Century
About the Item
Large scale, highly detailed 19th century Russian Old Believers reticulated silver cross.
Finely hand wrought with beautiful patina from being handled with love and devotion.
The top and the base of the crucifix chased with stylized Cyrillic letters as is customary in Russian Old Believers crosses. The arms decorated with flowers within diamond shaped lozenges. Set against a densely reticulated fretwork of interwoven naturalistic scrolls, ending in lobed elements. The back showing hand finished polishing.
In wonderful condition, unmarked, tested for silver.
