About the Item
Extraordinary museum quality 18th Century Georgian 3 TCW diamond, silver topped rose gold transformable pendant brooch of the Scarlet Pimpernel, a flower synonymous of England, chivalry, romance, restraint and humility. The unassuming English wayside flower is symbolic of Sir Percy Blakeney, "the most British Britisher" of Baroness Orczy's first novel in a series of historical fiction which took London's West End by storm when it opened at the New Theater in 1905. Sir Percy's admirable British attributes of calm and collected self-control, grace under pressure and doing the right thing resonate to this day.
Composed of fine rose cut diamonds set in silver topped rose gold to complement the elegant color of the gemstones, this exquisite piece retains its original gold pinstem mechanism which is completely removable by lifting the handle of the circular connector and turning it counter clockwise until the pin is released. Very rarely do jewels retain such original details. The gold is of substantial quality well suited for such a beautiful jewel.
Superb condition for an object of this period- all original without repair or restoration.
