Victorian Turquoise, Pearl and Yellow Gold Cross Pendant
About the Item
A Victorian turquoise, pearl and yellow gold cross pendant, grain-set with round turquoise cabochons within a border of half pearls, all in a yellow gold mount, circa 1860, bearing later Austrian import mark for 18ct gold, 1965-2001, the cross measuring approximately 6.5 x 3.5cm, gross weight 19.6 grams.
Victorian cross pendant is in excellent condition.
A wonderful Victorian cross pendant, from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. The pairing of bright turquoise and creamy pearl is a luminous combination that was popular in the mid-nineteenth century. This marvellous piece follows in the centuries-old tradition of symbolic cross pendants and would be eye-catching when worn on a thick yellow gold chain.
