About the Item
Georgian enameled mourning ring. Set with a raised central cartouche containing braided grey hair covered by a cushion shape crystal, framed by symmetrically carved scrolled foliate, fitted to a wide flat shank with a black enamelled inner channel with the words ‘IN MEMORY OF’ in gold bordered by intricately carved edges with scrolling foliate motifs around the full circumference, the interior engraved ‘My Father, Ob. 13 Feby 1827, At 75.’, approximately 11mm in width. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, maker's mark, English, circa 1827.
