Victorian Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond Double Heart Ring
About the Item
A Victorian ruby, sapphire and diamond double heart ring, set with a round-shaped ruby weighing approximately 0.30 carats and a round-shaped sapphire weighing approximately 0.20 carats, both set to the centre of an old brilliant-cut diamond cluster with a diamond-set ribbon bow to the top, all in silver to a yellow gold mount, circa 1870, the head measuring approximately 1.5cm, finger size S, gross weight 4.68grams.
This ring is in very good condition, slight abrasion to the ruby and sapphire consistent with age. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold and silver.
A charming Victorian ring. This ring features two gorgeous diamond framed hearts, one set with a pigeon’s blood ruby and one set with a deep blue sapphire. The hearts are tied together by a diamond-encrusted ribbon. Double heart rings such as this were popular romantic symbols of love in the mid-to-late Victorian era, with the two hearts representing the couple being forever intertwined. This lovely antique piece comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and would make the perfect non-traditional Victorian engagement ring.
