Antique 19th Century Gorham Reticulated Sterling Silver Wine Coaster

About the Item

A fine antique sterling silver wine coaster. By Gorham Silversmiths. With a beaded rim and flared top supported by reticulated sides and an ornate base. Having a bird's eye maple wooden insert or base. Simply an amazing 19th Century American silver wine coaster! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There are some light bends and indentations to the reticulated sides, the top is slightly out of round, there are light dents & indentations here and there, and there is some shrinking and slight cupping to the original turned wooden insert (resulting in a small gap between the silver and the turned wood). Otherwise, there are some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Gorham Silversmiths Marks: Marked to the side with the Gorham factory maker's mark / STERLING / 105 / and the date cypher for 1897. Measurements: Diameter: ca. 5 in. Height: ca. 2 in.
