19th Cent Gorham Coin Silver Handled Tazza of New Orleans, LA Southern Interest

About the Item

A very fine 19th century tazza of Southern interest. In coin silver by Gorham Manufacturing Co. The tazza having a sturdy swing handle set with graduated spheres, a pierced gallery rim, a wide border with etched anthemion devices, and a center engraved with a family crest with what appears to be a Live Oak Tree and the motto: "STAND SURE". Retailed by Henderson & Gaines of New Orleans, Lousiana. Simply a great piece of silver from Gorham! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Gorham Marks: Marked to the inside of base with Henderson & Gaines / 24 / Gorham's maker's mark / COIN for silver fineness. Measurements: Height: ca. 9 1/2 in. Diameter: ca. 10 in.
