About the Item
“DRAGON SPOON” and “CLOUD” Rest/Pendant
The “Dragon Spoon” is a caviar spoon with a stylized “Dragon” wrapped down the stem and features a 26pt heart shaped natural pink Argyle type diamond in his mouth. The “Dragon Spoon” is made from 18K yellow gold (42 grams) and platinum (14.4 grams), 109 diamonds equaling 3.38K and with the body of the dragon featuring 76 colour-enhanced green natural diamonds equaling 89pts, a heart shaped 26pt natural pink Argyle type diamond FI3 P2 (uncertified) and the mother of pearl bowl is hand-carved by Paul Amey.
The diamonds displayed throughout the spoon are a marquis 21pt F VS, a marquis 13pt F VS, a pear shape 24pt F VS, a round 20pt E SI, a round 15pt E SI, a round 30pt E SI, 6 x 8pt round E SI equaling 51pts, 6 x 5pt, 6 x 3pt and 8 x 2pt round brilliant white equaling 49pts.
The “Cloud” rest is made from 18K yellow gold and platinum, diamonds, a slice of agate, hand carved by Paul Amey mother of pearl “cloud” and Lapis Lazuli. The rest was crafted with over 50 hours of labour. As an added feature the “Cloud” rest can be worn as a pendant.
The diamonds featured in the “Cloud” rest are
In/on the mother of pearl “Cloud” are 1 x 30pt (in Lapis), 2 x 8pt, 1 x 5pt, 1 x 3pt and 1 x 2pt round white diamonds, that are chenier set in platinum.
Random set around the agate are 1 x 16pt and 8 x 8pt round white diamonds that are chenier set in platinum.
In “squares” are 65 x small round white diamonds and 50 x small round colour enhanced green diamonds.
The “Dragon Spoon” and “Cloud” rest are housed in a one-off custom-made cherry wood display box with brass trim.
The "Dragon" Spoon was designed and hand crafted by multi award-winning jeweler Paul Amey in Australia and is stamped with his registered makers mark and precious metal marks. Paul completed the spoon in September 2017 with over 240 hours of labour. All components are masterfully handcrafted by Paul Amey with no casting or 3D imaging used. Diamond and stone settings were all carried out by Paul Amey.

Paul Amey Jeweller
PAUL AMEY is an ARTIST, DESIGNER, MASTER GOLDSMITH and a fellow of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia. Paul Amey was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia with one grandfather a watchmaker, the other a jeweller. Jewellery was obviously in his blood! Paul has been a designer and manufacturing jeweller for over 50 years and is well renowned for his work in creating and producing beautiful high-quality jewellery with a dramatic flair completely by hand. Paul is still passionate about designing and producing special pieces. “I have fun with jewellery and so should customers - I give people choices they don’t get from other jewellers.” Paul has seen a great number of design changes and influences come and go, but he says “the fundamentals have always remained the same skilful design, excellent craftsmanship and an attention to detail.” Like the masters of old, using time-honoured techniques, he is creating modern masterpieces. “Each custom piece is crafted completely by hand, no computers, no mass production. My pieces are absolute original works of art, whether they be made from silver, gold or platinum.” Paul has a strong desire and flair for dramatic pieces, an early example being the making of the perpetual Western Australian Gold Swan Award. Also in recognition of his hand craftsmanship was the acceptance of his work by Sotheby's under its Art Category and recently being the recipient of two Precious Metal Awards.
