George III Sterling Silver Creamer by Peter & Ann Bateman
About the Item
A George III period, sterling silver creamer with a monogrammed crest and beaded rim by Peter & Ann Bateman of the famed Bateman silversmithing family. This rather lovely creamer sits atop of a square foot and has an elongated handle typical of the era. The creamer features a crest to the front of the lip with what appears to be a capital 'I', presumably for the first owner's surname. The piece is finely chased with a floral border to the top that sits under the beaded rim. In remarkable condition for its age the creamer has a small but stable crack to the top of the handle, which is not noticeable at first glance, and is on a slight lean, both minor issues commensurate with age and use. A really gorgeous example of English silver by the famed Bateman family.
