Russian Imperial-era Silver Letter Tray by Timofeev, Moscow, 1835

About the Item

This charming Russian rectangular silver tray from the Pushkin era was crafted by the renowned silver master Fedor Timofeev of Moscow during the reign of Tsar Nicholas I in 1835. Of polished silver with everted border, the rim is decorated with a row of small flower heads, the corners with shell and cornucopia motifs typical of the period. By Fedor Timofeev (active 1819-1840), stamped with the maker’s Cyrillic initials FT, assaymaster Nikolai Dubrovin, 84 for the Russian silver standard, St George slaying dragon for Moscow, 1835 below the assaymaster’s cyrillic initials. 10 in.
