Contemporary Bed Built in White Oak by Boyd & Allister
By Boyd & Allister
Located in Santa Fe, NM
This bed was originally designed for one of our clients who owns a historic home in Santa Fe and wanted something contemporary but also fitting with his adobe home. We designed this bed with its frame constructed from solid 2” thick walnut to pick up the weight of the beams in the home. This minimal design uses traditional joinery and clean lines, allowing the beauty of the wood to be the defining characteristic. The design detail of the leg meeting the rails is also a showcase of craftsmanship in its clean joinery. Pictured in this listing are a white oak bed frame...

He took chemistry and math classes for some reason at the university of Kansas and then dropped out and started hitchhiking. He has lived in southern Mexico, Switzerland, India, Spain, the Pacific Northwest and the great American Southwest. For the past 15 years, he has been ridiculously involved and obnoxiously in love with the New Mexico art scene, living and working in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos. When he’s had to work, he’s been a commercial diver, propman, art director, low-volume smuggler, curator and gallery owner. He also once worked for eleven days in a dog food factory where they made Kibbles’ n Bits, but he prefers to paint. An avid muralist, both commissioned and not, he has painted buildings in Oaxaca, Barcelona, Venice, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos, Varanasi, Bangkok, Rangoon, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Oakland and many other places, under the names “Detach”, “Stove” and “El Pituitario”. Located in Santa Fe, NM
The experience of nature and daily life feed my work. The materials I use are from the natural world: beeswax and cotton thread. The threads are untwined and dyed with things I consume like spices, foods, coffee, wine, etc. This process creates an intimacy with my material. I embed these threads into beeswax-coated MDF panels to create varying experiences of landscape. The viewer, as I am, is either experiencing it up close or from a distance; zoomed in or zoomed out.
