If Sheila Bridges is a decorating powerhouse, it’s because she has an immensely covetable style. Her bedroom at Hay House, the weekend retreat she built for herself in the Hudson Valley, serves as a veritable compendium of the elements essential not only to her distinctive decorating but also to her designing life. The colors are vivid, the patterns playfully layered, and the selection of art and furnishings a whimsical mix of genres, eras and provenance. “The inspiration is the Hudson Valley, especially the light, colors and viewsheds,” she says. Note, above the bed, the 19th-century sand painting of a local riverscape. It’s flanked by two antique framed objets from the Mercanteinfiera, the famous antiques fair in Parma, while the vintage Swedish-style chests and porcelain lamps were discovered on 1stDibs. Front and center on the bed are silk pillows from her new collab with Gingerlily in London. Yes, you know that pattern.
