Formarch
Everything in Harmony

Drawing heavily from mid-century modern Miami design, Sean Webb (left) and Brent Leonard, principals of the New York–based firm Formarch, integrated bold moves into the living room of a Surfside condominium. “The success of the room lies in the delicate balance between simplicity and statement,” Leonard says. “The anchor pieces provide a canvas that allows the vintage furniture to shine.” From 1stDibs, they sourced a pair of leather and plywood Osvaldo Borsani Canada P110 lounge chairs and a Pierre Paulin model F572 side chair, meant to pop against the custom Formarch-designed sofa, coffee table, lounge and rug, the last a collaboration with Sacco. “Its graphic geometry elevates the entire design,” Leonard says. All the lighting, including a brushed-brass floor lamp, a 1950s pendulum floor lamp and a French 1960s Raphaël Giarrusso ceramic table lamp, was sourced on 1stDibs. “The dialogue between the soft curves of the bespoke sofa, the sculptural lines of the Borsani chairs and the artful lighting creates a dynamic harmony, where each piece feels integral to the whole,” Leonard says. This bewitching combination reflects Formarch’s signature dedication to the interplay of what they call the “idiosyncratic and the rational.”
