Chelsea Residence

Apartment von Neal Beckstedt Studio in New York, NY

Designed for a young family, this four-bedroom apartment in Chelsea was renovated and decorated to highlight the couple’s extensive art collection. Ebony stained oak paneling and floors are contrasted with parchment colored walls to create a dynamic yet subtle backdrop to highlight the art hanging creatively throughout. Hung tightly in a stacked gallery style, in small clusters or singly, the display of the collection varies to allow the viewer greater appreciation of the works. Art is even integrated into the decoration with easels and display niches, commissioned pendant lighting and an abstract coffee table for the living room. Mixing old and new, the more traditional furnishings create a sophisticated blend of French antiques, mid-century classics and contemporary pieces. Taken all in, the home balances living with such an extensive art collection with an ease and casualness that reflects the client’s lifestyle.
