Modern Yet Muted

This family home in Lexington has belonged to the family for over thirty years, and the client's purchase of the house was a homecoming of sorts: buying back the home she grew up in. The brief for this first phase was a furniture and lighting update built around a quiet, neutral palette with moments of real drama worked in. The timeline added its own challenge: a major first-floor renovation and kitchen remodel were still years out, so nearly every piece selected needed to work beautifully in the current layout but hold its own once the walls around it eventually changed.

Nubuor Designs handled furniture selection and lighting throughout, building a modernizing a home to be calm enough to feel restful without ever reading as flat. Layered neutrals set the tone room to room, while a few deliberate choices, statement light fixtures, and pops of unexpected color or texture, keep the home from disappearing into sameness.
