Roy Lichtenstein
Brushstroke - Lichtenstein, Brush, Yellow, Famous, Pop

1965

About the Item

This is an absolutely outstanding piece of art. Roy Lichtenstein has become famous for his "Brushstroke" paintings. But this artwork is a very special one due to its technique. It is baked from ginger bread dough, glaced with colored sugar frosting! The "cake" was baked at the "Café Schuster", a coffee shop in Düsseldorf/Germany inn 1971. It was a special edition for an Eat-Art-Exhibition at Museum Kunstpalast. The edition is of 100 copies. After the exhibition they have been covered with a polyester coat to conserve the dough and the bright colors. Our piece is in pristine condition and mounted on a wooden board, framed with acrylic glass. Edition of 100, copy 15/100

Through his designs and the use of his now iconic cross-hatched etchings, he wanted to create a 20th century response to the opera and to Hogarth's 18th century idea. These cufflinks are based upon those Hockney etchings...
