Werner Drewes
Untitled Mid Century Modern Abstract Woodcut

1974

About the Item

Werner Drewes Untitled Mid Century Modern Abstract Woodcut, 1974 Woodcut fold-out card on Rives BFK paper with deckled edges 9 1/5 × 6 1/4 inches Unframed Rarely seen, this twice signed geometric abstraction woodcut on Rives BFK paper with deckled edges is actually a fold out Christmas card, which the artist created in a very limited edition. It is hand signed and dated on the recto (front) and also bears a warm inscription on the verso wishing the recipient Merry Christmas and best wishes for 1975, signed Werner and Mary. The work is numbered. Very few of these woodcuts were created; even fewer remain. The only other we've seen is in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution, which has the proof. This is a real collectible for mid-century modern art enthusiasts and for fans and collectors of Werner Drewes. In good vintage condition; minor toning inside
