Kevin B. O'Callahan
Kevin B. O'Callahan, (Street Scene) (Rochester, NY?)

1935

About the Item

This (Street Scene) is undoubtedly O'Callahan's hometown of Rochester, NY, where he lived and spent most of his career. The artist's name appears in pencil at the bottom edge on the reverse, in another hand. A Rochester native, Kevin O'Callahan studied at the Carnegie Institute and worked on the WPA. He is known for his Arts and Crafts period intaglio prints and woodcuts and his later industrial scenes. He was an incredibly skilled printmaker and draftsman with an eye to the interesting composition and details. But of course everyone is drawn to the antique cars. He's given them such personality even though they weren't antiques when he drew them.
