Keith Haring
Keith Haring began experimenting with his bold, graphic lines and cartoon-inspired figures on the walls of New York City subway stations in the early 1980s. He called them his “laboratory,” places to develop a radical new aesthetic based on an ideology of creating truly democratic public art.
Haring’s paintings, prints and murals address the universal themes of death, love and sex, as well as contemporary issues he experienced personally, like the crack-cocaine and AIDS epidemics. They derive much of their impact from the powerful contrast between these serious subjects and the joyful, vibrant pictographic language he uses to express them, full of dancing figures, babies, barking dogs, hearts and rhythmic lines, as well as references to pop culture.
To make his art even more accessible, in 1986, Haring opened the Pop Shop in Soho. In a foreshadowing of today’s intermingling of art and fashion, the shop sold merchandise and novelty items featuring imagery by Haring and contemporaries like Kenny Scharf and Jean-Michel Basquiat. While his works sometimes included text, for the most part, he chose to communicate through drawing.
“Drawing is still basically the same as it has been since prehistoric times,” Haring once declared. “It lives through magic.”

- A Happy Day, vase of color follwers.Located in La Canada Flintridge, CAA strong brushstroke here, and a contrasting color there is the result of inner experiences and observations accumulated bit by bit over the years. I put on creative movements, shapes, and colors that portray my interior, allowing it to become an independent being, one vibrating with life. Its creative power is not limited; it can always be reinvented. Abstract Expressionism reveals anxiety, joy, victory, defeat, etc. in their most raw, truest sense. They come to life with every color and brushstroke used on its media. When I sit facing a blank, white screen, I feel insecurity and doubt about our human existence. Where do we come from? Where are we going? I believe the language of art brings forth the assurance that everything is part of our Creator’s greater plan. Painting and drawing have their own wisdom and madness, communicated through the Artistic Triad- a process composed of the artist, the creation, and the observer. The relationship among these three elements provokes and drives art’s continuous spiritual and revolutionary process. Olavo Multini...Category

This is a limited édition signed Combas, dated 95 and numbered 4/8 on the base. - Is it a carnival ? a character, a buffoon representing power by a cannon exhibited as a phallic object that symbolizes power. "The moment when the official hierarchies collapse, where the powerful become ridiculous and the fools the only wise respected. The moment of inversions, negations, derision and extravagance. Abel and Cain, Salome and Saint John the Baptist : whatever the time and the weapons, it is almost always the same story", said Combas. Robert Combas love to Deforms when, allowing itself disproportions, exaggerations and deletions, it gives birth to creatures with noses, lips or feet disproportionately inflated or stretched, even monstrous and comic.
