Anya Simmons Abstract Paintings
Anya Simmons is a professional artist based in Kineton, Warwickshire. She was born in 1969 in Uganda and moved to Nairobi, Kenya in 1972. She lived in Africa for the first 14 years of her life and then moved to the UK. She studied a BEd (Hons) teaching degree with art and design and enjoyed a successful career as a primary school teacher for many years. She then went on to pursue her passion and love for art. Simmons held her first solo exhibition in Walton Village in 2005 and was overwhelmed by the response. She has continued to develop her own expressive and individual style and exhibits in various galleries throughout the UK, holding regular exhibitions and events during the year. Simmons’s work is profoundly influenced by beautiful coastal landscapes, quirky harbors and the ever-changing countryside of Great Britain. She enjoys working with various mediums creating an exciting blend of textures, shapes and vibrant colors. She also continuously experiments with the effects that can be created using gesso, acrylic, acrylic inks and a variety of mark-making materials. The depth of color, movement and versatility that can be achieved using these elements excites her. She gets great pleasure from examining the form, colors, light and texture within our diverse landscape and is repeatedly striving to capture this through her work.
