Max Papart Furniture
French, 1911-1994
Max Papart (1911-1994), was born in Marseille, France and later moved to Paris where he learned the techniques of classic engraving. One of the most intriguing intellectual concepts which Papart achieved is a "window" through which the viewer senses the past or future, or even another time or place. It has been said that Papart does not "paint," he "composes." His compositions come together in a symphony of line, shape and colour. Papart always believed that each painting has its own meaning and needed no interpretation from him. His paintings, in his own words, 'force the viewer to think, and it is for the viewer to respond to the art based on his own personal experiences (Rogallery). Papart's original art pieces such as this one are auctioned at the world's most prominent houses and are eminently collectible. You will find his works often sold side-by-side with Picassos, Chagals and Braques.(Biography provided by Bureau of Interior Affairs)

Harland Miller
Harland Miller is both a writer and artist (his debut novel Slow Down Arthur Stick to Thirty was published in 2000) and his paintings of books simultaneously provide a subject for the painter and an outlet for the writer.
They combine the emotive possibilities of abstract expressionism with the quick punch of words to deliver their message, and for all the macho grist of their making, and often overwhelming scale, they somehow express a frailty that hints at the human condition.
As Miller has said: “Painting is the worst medium to express narrative, but perhaps the best to hit a nerve”.
Harland Miller was born in Yorkshire in 1964. He has lived in New York and Berlin and currently lives and works in London.

Nicolas Lancret « the Game of Hide and Seek » Engraving 18th Century
By Nicolas Lancret 1
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
This wonderful engraving belongs to a set of three engravings representing children's games. This series dates from the 18th century. It consists of the game of hide and seek, the game of the four corners and the game of the ox leg.
The scene depicted here is immersed in an abundance of nature. In the centre is a young girl walking away with her eyes poorly concealed. A young man is also walking away in the opposite direction, holding a handkerchief in his left hand. Behind them, seven other girls are sitting down and seem to be paying no attention to the two young men in the foreground. In the background is a bust resting on a pillar, all decorated with roses.
This scene is taken from a painting by Nicolas Lancret...
