"Figure with Harp, " Art Deco Midcentury Low Bowl by Rudolf Petersen, Rare

About the Item

This very fine and highly rare bowl, featuring a seated female figure in classical robes who is plucking an oval harp, exhibits the incised design and rich colors that Rudolf Petersen is known for. The artist worked in Rødovre, Denmark from the 1930s through the 1970s, and this example of his work shows the influence of both the Art Deco period and the subsequent Midcentury period of experimentation. Petersen's works are extremely scarce, and a work of this ambition is almost unheard of.
