19th c English Chippendale Style Mahogany Tea Caddy with Silver Plate Tea Boxes

About the Item

A nicely carved English mahogany tea caddy in the Chippendale style with dome top and scroll carved corners, silver plate scrollwork escutcheon & handle, the custom interior lined with velour for silver plated tea boxes with acorn & oak leaf knops flanking a central mahogany foil lined tea box with an acanthus knop. The handled top has a monogrammed plate “M.S. to H.G.” engraved. This caddy dates to the 19th century and is in very good condition, with great patina, with minor veneer shrinkage cracks, surface imperfections, and light wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 6.5 in H x 11.25 in W x 6 in D. Ref: 787
