Tall Antique European Carved Madonna
About the Item
A tall, sensitively sculpted antique wood figure of The Madonna. Standing almost three feet high, the exquisitely carved face of Mary, surrounded by graceful flowing robes and head covering, conveys an almost ineffable sense of spirituality and peace. Covered with old, off white polychrome, this piece, originating in Western Europe, reveals it's age and sense of place. The three round holes in the back suggest that this sculpture was fastened to the wall of a church or other religious building. Perfect for a room dedicated to quiet and thoughtful pursuits, perhaps a library or hideaway sanctuary. A spiritual and comforting presence.
