Derby Late Georgian Floral Painted Bottle Shape Porcelain Vase

About the Item

A stunning and exceptional late Georgian floral painted porcelain bottle vase made by Derby and dating from around 1820. The large vase stands on a narrow round foot with slightly recessed base and has a round bulbous body with a tall slender neck with a simple trumpet opening. The vase is probably Asian or Middle Eastern inspired with the body of the vase is finely hand painted with vertical panels set within Middle Eastern borders with trailing branches of flowering hawthorn and prunus repeated in panels around the body. The vase is painted in tones of red, green, blue and lilac and highlighted with gilding with gilding also applied around the top rim. The vase has a partial red Derby crown mark to the base. Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market. In good condition with a firing crack to the base and with a minor and barely visible hairline to the top rim.
