Zsolnay Hungarian Islamic Influence Floral Painted Porcelain Vase
About the Item
A very stylish and elegant Hungarian porcelain vase hand painted with Islamic influence floral designs by renowned maker Zsolnay and dating from around 1890. The vase stands raised on a shaped reticulated petal shaped base with round gourd shaped body with a narrow neck and with a pierced floral decorated cup shaped top. The vase has raised wing like reticulated handles applied to the top of the body. The vase is finely hand painted with floral panels in tones of pink and brown with gilding on a cream colored ground and set within a surround with similar designs on a brown ground. Similar patterning is applied to the neck and the pierced elements have been painted in tones of red and yellow with gilded highlights. The vase has a blue printed Zsolnay Pecs mark to the base along with an incised mark and is numbered 2161 along with various other number marks.
In good condition with fine age crazing to the thickly applied glazes.
