Vintage 6 Florentine Handcrafted Silver and Luxion Crystal Glasses from R.C.R

About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Linear and essential table service composed of six drinking glasses; the glasses are enriched by a solid silver mount, executed by hand lathe in an excellent way, in fact, the upper edge is obtained by turning the silver plate on itself, and, towards the base, a sturdy step was created that underneath was then folded over the base of the glass itself; this was done to wisely reinforce the whole mount so that it is integral with the body of the glass; also aesthetically the glass has a sober, elegant and clean line. From the punch, stamped on the silver part, it can be seen that the glasses were made between 1980 and 1985 by the Florentine silversmith and craftsman Cecconi Valerio, his workshop was located in Bagno a Ripoli, on the outskirts of Florence (Italy), the firm closed around 2000; he specialized in making crystal objects assembled with silver; he researched unique, original and special crystals for his items, and executed the silver supports with art and technique, creating high-quality objects. Also for our glasses, artisan Cecconi wanted to use a particular crystal produced by the company R.C.R. (Royal Crystal Rock) of Colle Val d'Elsa (Tuscany, Italy), the glasses bear the company's trademark ground on the bottom; RCR Cristalleria Italiana was born in 1967 in the heart of Tuscany from an idea of a group of artisans who, with courage and talent, expressed the highest level of glass art; the company has distinguished itself to this day for the production of tableware, wine tasting, and home furnishings. Lead crystal has been produced in Italy for more than two centuries now, but RCR's technical evolution has led the company to offer an alternative to classic lead crystal through the production of Luxion®, a high-quality, innovative glass created with the purest raw materials and the industry's most advanced technologies. Luxion is a lead-free crystal endowed with qualities that make it the best crystal in the world for transparency, brilliance, and safety, both for food and for those who use it. This material represents an index of the highest quality for RCR Crystal glasses, including aesthetics thanks to its high refractive index and brilliance, with maximum ultraclear transparency. The almost total absence of color and maximum clarity, due to the highest quality raw materials, makes Luxion® the most transparent of all glassware materials on the market. The quality of this material ensures RCR products are perfect glasses for cocktail and beverage tastings, able to enhance the organoleptic qualities of spirits or wines, with a total absence of taste alteration. Measure diameter cm.6, height cm.19. The glasses are in good condition. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.

  • Florentine Handcrafted Crystal Bottle Ground, Cut And Polished By Hand
    Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Exceptional and valuable whiskey bottle; has been made with a lead crystal of the highest quality with a high thickness in order to grind it deeper than normal, which allows the light to reflect in a much brighter and more brilliant way; in order for this to happen, the geometry of the grinding is also specially designed and executed. The bottle turns out to be much heavier than others on the market. We must at this point make an important clarification about the finishing of our bottle: towards the end of the 1960s, acid crystal polishing was devised in Germany; the object was immersed and rotated in a solution of sulfuric acid, fluoridic acid, and water and in a short time all the defects left by previous processes were eliminated; it was a fast, industrial operation that allowed costs to be lowered considerably, with discrete but not excellent results. This method is still used today for almost all crystal objects. But for our bottle, traditional hand polishing was used with cork wheels immersed in pumice and cerium oxide dissolved in water, which thanks to their abrasive and polishing action give the product a perfect polish. The squares of the bottle were individually polished one by one, as well as the horizontal and vertical grindings by two specialized craftsmen who took about two days of work, achieving a very high standard of quality on an artifact of inestimable value. The bottle was made between 1990 and 1995 by Moleria Locchi...
