Antique German Military Cut Crystal & Continental Silver Presentation Claret Jug

About the Item

This antique German cut crystal and .800 silver lidded pitcher was made by a Julius Merz in circa 1900 in the period Edwardian style. The collar and handle of the pitcher are made of silver and the lid has a very detailed ball top to open the lid. The sides of this crystal pitcher has nicely cut scrolling lines, accented by a cut star pattern in the base. The lid of the pitcher is clearly engraved as being presented by the German Officer's Corp to a Dr. Heckmann in 1904. The side is clearly marked "Julius Merz" with a model number underneath and the crescent moon hallmark for German silver.
