Minton Cloisonné Style Coffee Cup Attributed to Christopher Dresser

About the Item

Exquisite Minton cloisonné style ware tea cup with its saucer. This porcelain set is decorated with the cloisonné style technique with vivid botanical patterns framed with gold. Here, lovely friezes of peonies or daisies on a very typical blue background, very common in Dresser's production for Minton. Close to tableware no 1911 (June 1875) for Minton, pictured in Widar Halén, Christopher Dresser, Phaïdon, Christie's, Oxford, 1990, p.99. Size of the cup : 7 cm of diameter x 6,5 cm height x 9 cm depth. Saucer diameter 13,5 cm. Signed beneath the cup and the saucer number of the model G2355 (realized c.1875-76) and Minton cypher porcelain mark for 1875 and "MINTON" impressed in the porcelain (see the back-lit last picture).
