Antique 19th Century French Beaux-Arts Silver-Mounted Enamel Tea Caddy by Risler

About the Item

A fine antique French enamel tea caddy. Mounted with gilt silver mounts. By Risler of Paris. Decorated with polychrome birds or paradise, rock outcroppings, and flowers/floral swags throughout. Simply a wonderful early tea caddy! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is crazing and splits to the enamel throughout as well as a large crack visible in the interior and exterior of the base. The lid has chipping around the bolt for the finial. The silver mount is slightly askew and gives an overall impression as if the box itself is slightly slanted. Otherwise, there are some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Risler Marks: Marked with French hallmarks for Sterling Silver / Risler / Diamond Lozenge maker's mark Measurements: Width: ca. 5 in. Height: ca. 5 1/4 in. Depth: ca. 2 5/8 in.
