Bellflowers Rezzonico Chandelier in Clear and Green Murano Glass Venice Italy, 21st century.
Entirely handmade of blown Murano glass, this chandelier is an original work of art by the Italian artist and designer Giovanni Dalla Fina. Produced in 2010, the chandelier combines the traditional technique of glassblowing with the Rococo style of the Venetian 18th century, which stands out for its splendor and opulence, characterized by rich decorations such ad curls, garlands, leaves, arabesques, fruits and flowers. Conceived to illuminate the interiors of theatres and halls of prominent Venetian mansions, the first chandelier in Rezzonico style was created in the 1700s for a Venetian family of merchants of the same name, who wanted a chandelier for their sumptuous palace overlooking the Grand Canal that could celebrate their power and success.
Made of transparent blown glass, with 6 arms and lights likewise, the here presented chandelier is richly decorated as to recall a bouquet of flowers. Among the arms, glass stems rise upward like flowers in a garden, surrounded by transparent leaves. Small garlands in green glass, sometimes with hanging bellflowers, complete the decoration.

Giovanni Dalla Fina
Although little information exists about the life of Italian designer and Murano glass master Giovanni Dalla Fina, his legacy shines bright through exquisite hand-blown glass chandeliers, table lamps, floor lamps, coffee tables and other delicate objects.
Based in Veneto, Dalla Fina had been introduced to the prestigious world of Murano glassmaking as a young man, before establishing his own design company in the early 1970s. Guided by his tenet “perfection is an imperative,” Dalla Fina specialized in the restoration of antique and vintage Murano glass chandeliers and lamps, while also crafting his own decorative lighting inspired by Art Deco and mid-century modernism.
Among Dalla Fina’s most notable pieces is his multicolored Ca’Rezzonico chandelier, which he created in the 1980s and which was recently featured in House and Garden magazine. This dazzling masterpiece of Murano glassmaking comprises a bouquet of floral motifs embellished with red and blue ringlets and clusters of tiny grape-shaped orbs. A more monochrome example is his intricate flush-mount ceiling light constructed from vertical layers of transparent Quadriedro elements arranged as waves.
While Dalla Fina’s oeuvre consists mainly of lighting pieces, he also made graceful demi-lune tables, refined Fazzoletto (handkerchief) vases and charming outdoor wall sconces, which he designed for the Camer Glass company in the 1960s.
