Although little information exists about the life of Italian designer and Murano glass master Giovanni Dalla Fina, his legacy shines bright through exquisite hand-blown glass chandeliers, table lamps, floor lamps, coffee tables and other delicate objects.
Based in Veneto, Dalla Fina had been introduced to the prestigious world of Murano glassmaking as a young man, before establishing his own design company in the early 1970s. Guided by his tenet “perfection is an imperative,” Dalla Fina specialized in the restoration of antique and vintage Murano glass chandeliers and lamps, while also crafting his own decorative lighting inspired by Art Deco and mid-century modernism.
Among Dalla Fina’s most notable pieces is his multicolored Ca’Rezzonico chandelier, which he created in the 1980s and which was recently featured in House and Garden magazine. This dazzling masterpiece of Murano glassmaking comprises a bouquet of floral motifs embellished with red and blue ringlets and clusters of tiny grape-shaped orbs. A more monochrome example is his intricate flush-mount ceiling light constructed from vertical layers of transparent Quadriedro elements arranged as waves.
While Dalla Fina’s oeuvre consists mainly of lighting pieces, he also made graceful demi-lune tables, refined Fazzoletto (handkerchief) vases and charming outdoor wall sconces, which he designed for the Camer Glass company in the 1960s.
Dalla Fina’s works are popular among interior designers and aficionados of contemporary Murano glass. On 1stDibs, find a range of vintage and newly manufactured Giovanni Dalla Fina lighting, tables and decorative objects.

Italian Murano Glass Dog Sculpture, Red and Gold, 1990s — Giovanni Dalla Fina
By Giovanni Dalla Fina
Located in Villaverla, IT
Italian Murano glass reclining dog sculpture crafted during the nineteen nineties showcases charming Venetian animalier fine art design by master glassmaker Giovanni Dalla Fina. Handcrafted in Italy, this sculptural canine figure is modeled in a relaxed, recumbent pose, resting upon its tucked paws while curling its tail gracefully across its back and turning its expressive head outward. The piece captures the affectionate essence of man's best friend through smooth, stylized contours and substantial solid-glass heft. Working freehand with solid glass at the furnace (a massello), Dalla Fina sculpted the body from dense, golden-amber glass richly infused with twenty-four-karat gold dust inclusions (polvere d'oro), imparting a radiant metallic iridescence across the rounded torso. Providing bold chromatic contrast, the long drooped ears, applied muzzle, expressive almond eyes, collar, and arched tail are executed in warm coral-red glass (rosso corallo) layered with shimmering gold flecks. Under direct gallery spotlights or natural ambient lighting, the fire-polished crystalline surface gleams with intense specular reflections, projecting warm amber refractions, coral halos, and soft sculpted silhouettes across display surfaces. Elevate any executive library desk, architectural bookshelf display, luxury credenza vignette, or vintage nineties Italian art glass collection with this authentic Giovanni Dalla Fina Murano sculpture. Ideal as a captivating standalone focal statement or styled as an elegant accent for collectors of fine Italian animalier sculpture, this piece unites centuries of Venetian lagoon furnace mastery with playful late-century figurative elegance. Add this rare red and gold Murano glass dog sculpture...

Italian Murano Glass Lion Sculpture, Green, 1990s — Giovanni Dalla Fina
By Giovanni Dalla Fina
Located in Villaverla, IT
Monumental Italian Murano glass zoomorphic presentation sculpture crafted during the nineteen nineties showcases commanding anatomical presence and master furnace bravura by Giovanni Dalla Fina. Handcrafted in Italy, this freestanding sculptural figure depicts a striding male lion caught mid-gait, poised alertly with its muscular head turned sharply outward. The dynamic composition evokes the historic civic majesty of the Lion of Venice, reinterpreted through fluid, muscular late-century glass sculpting. Master glassmakers hot-sculpted the solid figure entirely freehand at the furnace (massiccio a mano volante), executing the body in rich, semi-translucent forest-jade green glass (verde bosco). Working rapidly against cooling temperatures, the maestro used pincers, shears, and jacks to model the layered locks of the cascading mane, broad paws, articulated musculature, and curling tail tuft. Finished to a high-gloss fire polish, the contours catch crisp specular highlights along every anatomical ridge, throwing deep emerald refractions, subtle internal air-bubble glints, and bold leonine silhouettes across display surfaces under ambient daylight or focused gallery illumination. Elevate any luxury executive desk vignette, architectural living room credenza display, library bookcase arrangement, or museum-grade collection of late-century Italian fine art glass with this authentic Giovanni Dalla Fina lion sculpture. Ideal as an arresting standalone focal statement within high-end Neoclassical, Postmodern, and eclectic collector interiors, this lagoon-born creation unites centuries of Murano furnace virtuosity with the enduring heraldic soul of Venice. Add this rare green Murano glass lion sculpture...
