Large 19th Century Italian Giltwood Headboard in Rococo Style
About the Item
From Italy, home to master craftsmen, an original 19th century Headboard in the Venetian style. The frame features a lyrical, hand carved, design of interlacing S curves embellished with acanthus leaves. The headboard would have been originally made to order, as a unique design, in the late 1800's. The piece still has its original water gilding which now has a beautifully age warmed and textured patina. The headboard would be bracketed to the wall and, because of its generous width for an antique, can work with various mattress sizes.
