17th Century English Halberd with Pole Arm & Etched Blade

About the Item

A fine example of a mid-17th century steel halberd with pole arm, with a diamond shape thrusting point, axe blade with shallow concave cutting edge featuring overall etched decoration, slightly curved rear fluke with downward-pointing beak that is also etched. The etched decoration is thinning, worn from age and use, and the blade and spear were forged in two pieces. The halberd is mounted on a square shaft with no butt point. The blades display a dark speckled smooth smoky gray surface with some brown, and the straps are a smooth plumb brown.
