French industrial brise-soleil aluminium panel by Jean Prouvè, 1956

About the Item

French industrial brise-soleil aluminium panel by Jean Prouvè, 1956. Aluminum panel or brise-soleil, from the facade of the school in Beziers, France. The structure is composed of an aluminum frame with a golden finish which supports seven sunshade bands, also in aluminium, moved by a chain gear placed inside the uprights. The project was designed by Jean Prouvé in 1956 and was then built between 1962 and 1965. Despite its formal grandeur it weighs less than 30 kg. Good general condition, some signs of aging and dents but fully restored. Measurements in cm 172x8x186h17 A truly rare and unique piece of French design from the 1960s, an architectural element at the time has now become a perfect screen or room divider to place in your home. Beautiful in a bedroom or as a divider between the dining room and living room. Industrial but with a unique beauty, both in the idea and in the ingenuity of its operation.
