Gio Ponti for Bonacina Pair of Continuum BP 16 Lounge Chairs, Italy 1963

About the Item

Rare bamboo 'Continuum' lounge chairs model BP16 designed by Gio Ponti, manufactured by Bonacinao. The chair is completely made of bamboo and wicker and still has its original upholstery and cushion. The chair is in extraordinary condition and seats very comfortable. Continuum, realised for Bonacina in 1963. The project had to contaminate itself with the environment, nature, biology. Starting with the Domus Serena of 1933, with balconies now covered by creepers, 'Vertical forest' ante litteram. Of the project for a circular villa for Daniel Koo, never realised, sketches remain: the idea was for a large leaf roof covering a circular body, with a plan resembling organic forms, for Irace's limitless attempt to make architecture embrace life to the full.
